Stocks in the CRSP U.S. Small Cap Index (about 1,400 stocks) are scored and ranked for both value and growth factors. CRSP generally categorizes each stock as either a value or a growth stock, but some stocks may be split between the two style assignments. CRSP classifies growth securities using a composite growth factor using future long-term growth in earnings per share (22%), future short-term growth in EPS (22%), 3-year historical growth in EPS (16%), 3-year historical growth in sales per share (16%), current investment-to-assets ratio (11%), and return on assets (11%).
