Seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the S&P 900 Value Index. S&P classifies every stock in the S&P 500 Index and the S&P Midcap 400 Index into one of three buckets: growth (33%), value (33%), and blend (34%). S&P calculates a value score for every stock using three factors: book value to price ratio, earnings to price ratio, and sales to price ratio. S&P calculates a growth score for every stock using three-year change in EPS over price per share, three-year sales per share growth, and 12 month price momentum. Every stock is then grouped into the three buckets (growth, value, blend) based on the combination of the growth and value scores. The blend bucket includes those stocks that do not have strong growth or value characteristics. The S&P 900 Value Index includes all stocks in the value and blend buckets, or about 565 stocks. The selected stocks are weighted using market capitalization. The S&P U.S. Style Indices are rebalanced once a year in December.
On 1/27/2017, IUSV began tracking the S&P 900 Value Index. Prior to that, IUSV tracked the Russell 3000 Value Index.
