The Index targets companies that are currently members of the Russell 3000 Index, which represents approximately 98% of the investable U.S. equity market, have increased dividend payments each year for at least 35 years, and meet certain liquidity requirements. The index contains a minimum of 40 stocks which are equally weighted. No single sector is allowed to make up more than 30% of the index weight. If there are fewer than 40 stocks with at least 35 consecutive years of dividend growth, the index will include companies with shorter dividend growth histories. If the 30% sector cap is breached, companies in the applicable sector are removed, beginning with companies with the lowest dividend yield and shortest history of dividend growth, and progressively moving to companies with higher yields, as necessary. Only the top 85% of the Russell 3000 constituents, based on 20-day average dollar trading volume, are eligible for inclusion in the index. The index is rebalanced each March, June, September and December, with an annual reconstitution during the June rebalance.
